Processing Guidelines

1140A1 PPS is mainly applied for injection molding. Its melt flowability is between ABS and PC, featuring fast solidification and low shrinkage. Please pay attention to the following points during processing:

Material pre‑treatment: Although PPS has extremely low water absorption, sufficient drying before injection molding is still required. It is recommended to dry at 130‑140 °C for 2‑4 hours to guarantee product quality and avoid bubbles or silver streaks.

Injection temperature and pressure: Higher injection pressure and injection speed are preferred. Reference temperature settings: ‑ Melt temperature: 290‑320 °C ‑ Barrel temperature: Rear 300‑320 °C, Middle 290‑310 °C, Front 280‑300 °C ‑ Nozzle temperature: 290‑300 °C ‑ Mold temperature: Recommended 100‑150 °C. Appropriately raising mold temperature improves flowability and surface quality of molded parts.

Mold design: Due to fast‑solidification feature of PPS, large taper for sprue, short runner and sufficient vent slots shall be provided to prevent short‑shot and burn marks.
